60-Ton HeliChiller at Douglas, AZ

The high efficiency HeliChiller is an ammonia-water absorption cycle that is especially designed to efficiently and economically convert heat from solar thermal collectors into air conditioning.

HeliChiller is available in capacities from 15 tons to 500 tons.

Installations

Douglas, AZ – A solar thermal array supplies 210°F heat to the HeliChiller, which supplies 60 tons of 44° chilling to Cochise Community College. The COP of 0.75 makes this the highest efficiency low temperature heat-activated chiller available. Further savings are realized from the low parasitic power, as the required utility flow rates are only about 60% as high as for conventional heat-activated chillers.
